Updates Updates

woohoo....long time no update liaoz.

Exams had finally finished. Yippee!

Praise God for blessing me with a 3 weeks temporary job @ the Singapore Design Festival. All thanks to Rina for introducing this lobang to me. God is good..this temp is important to me especially in this building fund period.

I'll finish my work on 5 Dec 07 and will be taking a short retreat at Bangkok from 6 Dec to 10 Dec with my uni friends. Haha it's onli 2 days away to Thailand!!! YEsssh. This breakaway is sort of a rest for me which I considered 2007 as a reasonably long and tiring year for me. (hees will share more on my 2007 reflections on the last week of Dec, stay tuned!)

I got back my exam results last tues. We were told that results will only b release on 5 Dec but it came earlier..so kind of like not prepared to check the results last week. But in the end, still took a peep at how I fared => hmmm all thanks to my curiousity..ooopss. Woohoo....my results to me I think is quite good considering that I had left the study arena for almost 5 years. God is good and I am pleased with my results. Will continue to strive for better results next semester.

This month had been great to me in terms of ministry. We had our Enrichment program weekend two weeks ago and I was given the opportunity to help santhi in some of the preparation. I had fun and enjoyed myself.

At the same time, a few of the bus captains from the north finally managed to organise an outing for our students together @ Bishan park during our COM period last week. It was a well organised event, the students enjoyed themselves, so does the teachers. Haha it was the first time ever since I joined JAMs that the buses from AMK, Yishun, TPY and Bishan came together for an activity. Due to our busy schedules, we creatively plan the outing via telephone conference in the night from 11pm onwards and we discussed till almost 2am for abt 3 days consecutively. Tiring u may say but it's all worth it considering the fact that it's all for the students. All of us felt satisfied especially seeing the students enjoyed themselves and this really gives us the motivation to organise another outing the next time.

Great week ahead!
God is good all the time. All the time, God is good. Amen!!

It's War week....

It's Monday!

Took my buyer behaviour paper last tues, should be quite ok :)

Going to take my Market Research paper later in the afternoon at 2pm. It's a very dry subject to study...haha still cant get some of the info in.

It's a busy week for me, have two more papers coming up on Wed and Fri respectively.

Didn't go for Jams last week...haha "pong-ten" from serving..oopps
Last Sat was Arise N Build weekend..haha managed to pledge an amount that God wanted me to give. Thought the amount this time is lower than my previous one (cos I'm now a full time student ma, not working), I'm trusting God to continue His provision. Keep on Keeping on, believe in faith!!!

Jiayou Jiayou Arghhhh Zhi!!!

aiyaya got a lot of things to study n understand. :)

Hmm..this time I'm taking things rather easy. This is so unlike me as compared to the past durin Poly days where I will be like very "kan chiong". Haha guess I probably have "zhan da" (mature) le ba or it could be the stress tolerance trainings I had learnt durin my OCT period n in my times as a PC in the army. But I must thank God for the peace He has given to me. :)

Jams students are Olympics medal winners!!
Congrates to Wenyu, Alan, Jesslyn, Jason, Jacob and Gladys.
You have done all of us proud! =)

Smilez?

Hmm...I havent been smiling and laughing as often as before.
My mouth like numb like that...very hard to open up and laugh.
Have I forgotten how to smile, laugh and be happy?

Realised that some of my close friends are also not smiling as happily as before...Is it becos of the cares of the world? is it becos of the regrets of yesterdays or the worries of tomorrows?

Quite saddening to see how people are affected by their cares, concerns, worries, disappointments and fears of life that eventually crippled or robbed them from being happy.

Arghh...cannot like that. We must "increase petrol", constantly tell ourselves to be happy, learn to relax, learn to see the positive side of life. Nothing in this world is too big or difficult for us to handle. The joy of the Lord is our strength.

Rev A.R Bernard said this:

Happiness is learning how to deal with the inevitable disappointments in life. When we are troubled, God stands ready and willing to protect us. Our responsibility of course, is to ask Him for protection. When we call upon him in heartfelt prayer, He will answer - in His own time and in accordance with His own perfect plan.

Life is often challengin, but we must not be afraid. God loves us and He will protect us. In times of hardship, He will comfort us,. In times of sorrwow, He will dry our tears. When we are troubled or weak or sorrowful, God is always with us. We must build our lives on the rock that cannot be shaken: we must trust in God and then we must get on with the hard work of tackling our problems.

(2 Cor 4:8) "We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;"

Let's do this everyday = Hahahahahaha!

The End - NDP 07 Appreciation Dinner

Attended the NDP 07 Appreciation Award Ceremony cum Dinner at Ritz Carlton yesterday.

Hmm..still remember 10 months ago...we just started off at Ritz Carlton for the NDP 07 Sponsorship launch..and 10 mths later..the event yesterday signifies the end of my NDP 07 affairs. :)

Was presented with the Silver award for NDP 07 by Chief Defence Force. Wore shirt and tie for the event instead of Army No. 5 T function wear. Went up stage to receive my award when the MC announced my rank and name. Haha CDF was a bit shocked when he saw me in civilian (CV) wear instead of No. 5 T. He must be thinking how come this LTA wear CV, has long and coloured hair. hees

1st Test

Had my 1st test in SIM today.

Market research test!
- Weightage = 20%
- 30 x Multiple choice questions
- 30 x True/False questions

Hmmm....a bit easy but tricky..haha.

Received the invitation card for Monday's NDP 07 Appreciation Dinner from Adam at SIM this morning...Registration starts at 4pm..sianz my lesson ends at 5pm. Think will be leavin class early for the event...hmm will be wearin formal haha. Rick, thanks for the jacket event though I might not wear it. :)

Pastor preached a very powerful word on Spiritual Concentration. It's so important for us to focus on God and not on our individual personal holiness. Seek first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness! Don't worry about anything..it's a waste of our time and energy...leave everything to God for His plan is higher than ours.

Certificate of Participation

Maj Lim (Chairman Comms) hosted a simple Appreciation dinner for Comms Committee at Stagmont Camp to thanks everyone for the effort and hard work put in to make the event a success. It started at 5.30pm.

I was still rushin with my proposal at that time but managed to reach Stagmont camp around 6.10pm with my friend fetching me from SIM. My group members were very understanding and asked me to attend the dinner when I told them about it. Haha told them I will come back by 8.30pm to continue with the project. :)

Got this certificate at the dinner. It is the certificate of participation that was given to all who were involved in NDP 07.

Might be getting the silver award certificate for organising NDP 07 durin the EXCO Appreciation dinner on 27 Aug at Ritz Carlton. Muahaha...still waitin for news.

Rush Hour

Hmm it's starting to get busier in sch with all the projects and assignments deadline comin soon.

Haha had just handed in an individual assignment on Mon (had been working hard throughout the week) and immediately we have to start embarking on a research proposal due on Wed.

My group managed to get most of the stuff done for the research proposal by this morning. BUT then realised we were on the wrong track after speakin to our lecturer. Arghh...have to submit by tml afternoon 2pm.

But thank God we had checked with the lecturer and found out before we submit, if not all the effort we put in will be wasted. It was 5.30pm by the time we start to work on our proposal after class. We were all calm and lame jokes started shooting here n there..We just enjoyed ourselves while rushing up the proposal. Everyone put in effort and we worked till 11pm to get most of the things up. Will be meetin up again tml mornin 9am to finalise everything. Hmm..I kind of like this feeling where everyone focuses and work together as a team. Haha

Praise the Lord! At least what we are submitting will be the more accurate and correct one :)

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday Singapore
Happy Birthday to you!

NDP 2007 was a success!

NDP 07 Comms committee created history, with only 28 men and still able to made things happen. So proud of everyone!

Well....while Singapore was celebrating its 42nd birthday today, the whole nation was also celebrating my ORD today! It was such an honour and privilege to me. There was a military parade and Show performance put up especially for me. The president came and most importantly, there was fireworks! Haha lol :)

Feeling a bit sad though when I was greeting farewell to my friends and colleagues. I'm really touched and thank God for the good friendship I had made throughout my 4years 10mths stay in SAF. I'm really happy that everything went on well after 12 mths of effort and time.

I just want to say something here: Thank you God for all that you have given to me!

I am officially ORD. I am LTA (NS) Cher. I am Mr Cher.

A new direction is front. Look forward and move on! Jiayou!

My Friends

What does Friendship means to you?

With reference from Wikipedia:

Friendship is a term used to denote co-operative and supportive behavior between two or more humans. Friends welcome each other's company and exhibit loyalty towards each other. Their tastes will usually be similar and they will share enjoyable activities. They will engage in mutually helping behavior. (exchange of advice and sharing of hardship). Friendship is nothing more than the trust that someone or something will not harm them.

Woo time flies...I've been around for a quarter century already (oops..disclosed my age). Haha must admit that I have not been a very good "Peng You" to my friends, but trust me I am trying hard wo..God is good and He has never stop bringing friends into my life all these years. :)

NDP 07 - NE Show 1

NE Show 1 = National Education Show 1, where the primary five students from Singapore come together to see the NDP in actions. A lots students from various school came and they were all very excited about the event.

Feelin a bit sianz today. The entire NDP experience till date hasn't been a good one for me. It's all becos there were too much politics within my committee and it's realli draining energy off me. Arghh...I was particularly unhappy with some colleagues in my committee. Their characteristics are as follows:

- No actions but talk only. (Promised the whole world but delivered nothing)
- Actions a bit but noise very loud (Do a bit only but simply wants the whole world to know)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A conversation extract that day:

Officer Z: Sir, I am not very happy working.
Officer L: Oh why not happy?
Officer Z: Not happy with some people, especially those who do nothin but make lots of noise.
Officer Z: I tink I can don't come since I had already completed all my planning and work.
Officer Z: U know Monday to Sunday, I am always happy EXCEPT on Saturday!
Officer L: hmm..I understand...thought for a while.
Officer L: Given the dynamics of our team (inexperience n talk only but no actions idlers), I realli need you to be around in case things happen.
Officer L: You have been a great help to me!
Officer Z: haiz...........
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*If you don't like your work, you have two options - CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE or CHANGE YOUR JOB*
